About Us

Discussion Class Association is an non-profit / charitable alumni association of Discussion Class students registered under Karnataka Societies Act 1960 and registered under 12 A of Income Tax Department, Government of India to provide Charity services in Education, Environment & Healthcare and to spread the Discussion Class (By the students, for the students and of the students) mode of education among the students.

Discussion Class was started by our beloved teacher, Late Sri B S Gopalakrishna Murthy sir in Bhadravathi, in 1974 and ran the DC for almost 40 years and created a DC students community of close to 8000 spread across the world.

DC Association is a continuity of DC Trust/Foundation which was started by few Software Engineers (Dhananjaya and his DC friends – Jagadish, Abhinandan, Lakshmesha, Balachandra, Hemavathi, Amar, Manjunath, Archana Hemmady Gurumurthy, Vishwanath, Pradeep, Prashanth and few others) in 2006 under the guidance of GK Sir. Main objective of Trust/Foundation was to

‘Help the meritorious poor students financially to pursue Higher Education’.

GK sir used to identify the meritorious student who require financial help and DC alumni used to raise the funds among themselves and with their friends and pay to the student. 3 students (Deepika, Kousalya and Smitha) have completed their engineering with the help of DC Trust/Foundation. GK sir had an ambition of making this trust a registered entity and grow big to help many more students.

After the sudden demise of GK sir in 2013, few DC alumni under the leadership of Sri Dhananjaya Padmanabhachar have decided to make GK Sir’s ambitions to reality and registered the DC trust/ Foundation under the name of Discussion Class Association in December 2013 to carry out the Charity Services to give something back to the society.
